About Us

The Cocari II Foundation aims to preserve monumental and cultural heritage on Bonaire. We do this by creating social and economic support for the objects in question.

In Rincon we have restored the Ludovicusschool, Kas di Seur as well as two other buildings. There is now daily care for the elderly situated in the Cocari complex. There is also a police post located in the complex.

Mission:

To preserve and make cultural-historical valuables accessible so that they have meaning for current and future generations and their identity and living environment.

Activities:

Purchase, restoration, social redevelopment, management and advice.

Objective:

Editing and publishing books and other publications about heritage and monuments on Bonaire and in the Caribbean Netherlands. These publications serve to promote awareness, preservation and protection of the cultural and historical heritage in this region. By spreading knowledge we want to contribute to the education, appreciation and accessibility of the rich cultural history and monumental infrastructure of the islands.

With these publications we want to inform and inspire both local communities and a broader (inter)national audience to become involved in preserving the heritage of Bonaire and the Caribbean Netherlands.

Principles:

The user is central, sustainable, balanced operation.

Policy plan:

In the coming policy period, special attention will also be paid to the role that Cocari II sees for itself in making young people enthusiastic about the restoration, development and management of monumental heritage on Bonaire.
